2002 Fitness Industry Compensation Survey
By Patricia Ryan

relies on the people who work in it. A business with modern
equipment, a desirable location and plenty of parking still
needs creative and attentive staff who can keep people exercising.

has been lagging, wages and benefits for the fitness industry
have stayed the same or increased over the past 2 years, according
to the results of the 2002 IDEA Fitness Industry Compensation
Survey. Five out of the eight positions tracked in the IDEA
survey increased their median earnings above the 2000 survey
numbers. Only the fitness floor staff made no earnings progress.
