Position Title: Assistant Director – Personal Training
Position is primarily responsible for overseeing our Personal Training program with management responsibility for personnel, facilities, risk management, fiscal resources, programming and student development. This position requires an emphasis on creating and maintaining programming including one-on-one personal training, fitness assessments, fitness/wellness coaching, and wellness programs in a team atmosphere that promotes strong customer relations and high satisfaction rates. Programming is designed to be consistent with a fitness for health model and to serve an apparently healthy population. Primary customer groups include university students, faculty, staff, and members of the public. Supervision of personal trainers, various undergraduate staff members, and volunteers is a primary responsibility as well. We are seeking individuals with creative problem solving and critical thinking skills, who are committed to quality service and taking initiative to use their skills and creativity in a results oriented environment. We provide opportunities for personal and professional growth with an emphasis on teamwork in a fun and exciting environment. Salary range is $40,000 to 49,000, negotiable with experience. Position is eligible for university benefits including health/dental insurance and 404(b).
Master’s Degree required. Two to four years demonstrated experience and success in personal training programs. Must posses and demonstrate: (1) knowledge and experience in creating appropriate exercise prescriptions based on foundations of exercise physiology and biomechanics (2) knowledge and training in human health behavior and aging, (3) Specific knowledge skills and abilities as indicated by the American College of Sports Medicine in exercise risk stratefication, (4) Demonstrated competancy in conducting and training others to conduct fitness assessments, (5) familiarity with personal training software such as BSDI. Must show a demonstrated commitment to student development and risk management.
Required Certifications: American College of Sports Medicine Health Fitness Instructor.
