IDEA® Health & Fitness Association Announces Finalists for 2024 IDEA Industry Awards sponsored by Herbalife 

IDEA® Health & Fitness Association is proud to announce the finalists for the 2024 IDEA Industry Awards sponsored by Herbalife, honoring excellence and leadership in the fitness industry. These awards celebrate individuals whose outstanding contributions have inspired and empowered others to achieve their health and fitness goals. The recipients will be announced during 2024 IDEA® World Health & Fitness Convention, July 10-14 in Los Angeles. 

The IDEA Industry Awards have long been considered the most prestigious recognition in the health & fitness industry. Past award recipients include the likes of Wesley Hamilton, Tony Horton, Jenna Wolfe, Jane Fonda, Diana Nyad, Jack Lalanne, Chalene Johnson, and Andre Agassi among others.  

IDEA CEO and owner Amy Boone Thompson will acknowledge the nominees during a private, invitation-only awards ceremony, Friday, July 12th. “At IDEA, we are committed to celebrating those who elevate the standards of our industry and inspire others to pursue healthier lifestyles,” said Thompson. “The nominees for the 2024 IDEA Awards embody the passion, innovation, and leadership that drive our mission forward.” 

The finalists in the following categories are referenced below.

IDEA Fitness Leader of the Year 

The IDEA Fitness Leader of the Year Award recognizes an individual whose exceptional leadership and business acumen have significantly advanced the fitness industry. This award highlights those who serve their staff, fitness professionals, students, clients, and community with dedication and inspiration. 

Finalists: 

1. Desi Bartlett, Oahu, HI – Desi Bartlett, MS, CPT E-RYT, has over 25 years of experience in health and wellness and is the founder of Desibodymind.com, offering holistic health through meditation, yoga, and fitness. 
2. David Geslak, Chicago, IL – David Geslak, a pioneer in integrating fitness programs for autistic individuals, developed the Autism Exercise Specialist Certificate in partnership with ACSM. 
3. Ingrid Knight-Cohee, Vancouver, BC – Ingrid Knight-Cohee oversees fitness programming for Fitness World Canada, managing 150+ instructors and creating innovative classes for 90,000 members. 

IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year 

The IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year Award honors a certified personal trainer who demonstrates exceptional leadership, business management, and instructional skills, inspiring clients to achieve their personal best. 

Finalists:  

1. Marc Coronel, Las Vegas, NV – Marc Coronel is a global fitness consultant and educator, collaborating with major fitness brands and featured in top fitness publications. 
2. Stephen Holt, Timonium, MD – Stephen Holt, owner of 29 Again Custom Fitness, has been transforming lives through personal training since 1997. 
3. Rocky Snyder, Capitola, CA – Rocky Snyder, a nationally recognized expert in human movement, trains a diverse clientele and consults for professional sports teams.  

IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year 

The IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year Award celebrates a certified group fitness instructor who demonstrates superior instructional and leadership skills, actively engaging with the community and inspiring others to lead healthier lives. 

Finalists: 

1. Yoav Avidar, Tel Aviv, Israel – Yoav Avidar, co-owner of “Hagymnasia” and award-winning presenter, is known for his innovative fitness classes worldwide. 
2. Ellen de Werd, Eugene, OR – Ellen de Werd, creator of the WARRIOR fitness programs, provides original content and community support for group fitness professionals. 
3. Aimee Nicotera, Marstons Mills, MA – Aimee Nicotera is an international presenter and Virtual Studio Owner with over 30 years of experience in creating and developing fitness programs.  

IDEA Emerging Trailblazer of the Year 

The IDEA Emerging Trailblazer of the Year Award honors an up-and-coming fitness professional who has demonstrated exceptional innovation, inspiration, and leadership early in their career. 

Finalists: 

1. Haley Manning, San Diego, CA – Haley Manning, Senior Head Coach at Orangetheory Fitness, specializes in group fitness and child fitness development. 
2. Ruben Pereyra, Federal Way, WA – Ruben Pereyra, Senior Fitness Director at WESLEY Senior Homes, is a certified personal trainer with specialized certifications in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s fitness. 
3. Lanie Schrubba, Benton Harbor, MI – Lanie Schrubba, Fitness Director at Renaissance Athletic Club, has been recognized for her excellence in fitness instruction and community impact.
